The Si4000 xenon lamp aging tester is a fully automatic parameter closed-loop control aging tester, with a large LCD touch screen display, which can simultaneously control the amount of light irradiation, blackboard temperature, temperature in the box, humidity in the box, spray cycle, running time and other control parameters. The controller has a dozen programs preset at the factory, and users can also compile three programs by themselves. After the programs are called and executed, they run fully automatically without manual monitoring.


Si4000 tube power is 6500W. In the natural aging environment, the sample is mainly irradiated by light with a wavelength between 300-800nm. Si4000 can choose 340nm, 420nm and 300-400nm as monitoring points to control the radiation intensity there. During the test, in order to ensure the reproducibility of the test results ①, the parameters of the test process need to be kept constant, and the irradiation intensity of the light source is the main control parameter. In order to overcome the influence of lamp attenuation and voltage instability on the radiation intensity, the Si4000 measures the radiation intensity of the monitoring point through a light sensor. After the result is compared with the set value, the lamp power is closed-loop controlled by adjusting the current. , To ensure that the radiation intensity of the sample is always constant. The American standard for outdoor aging usually uses 340nm as the monitoring point; the American standard for indoor aging uses 420nm as the monitoring point; and the European standard generally uses 300-400nm both indoors and outdoors.


It is recommended to use 340nm as a monitoring point in the host and 420 as the second monitoring point. During a certain test, both monitoring points can be monitored, but only one of them can be controlled. In addition, we recommend buying a 300-400nm optical filter device. When the 300-400nm monitoring point is needed, the user can modify it by himself, and the host will automatically recognize it after modification. Generally, when the inner and outer filters are both borosilicate glass, the reading at 340nm is multiplied by 115, which is the radiation intensity in the 300-400nm range. The testing machine can control the length of the test time by accumulating the radiant energy. 



In different real environments and regions, the spectral energy distribution in sunlight is in the test standard, and the blackboard temperature is an important control parameter, which represents the high temperature of the surface of the sample when it receives radiation. When the sample is irradiated, the surface temperature will increase due to the absorption of the infrared energy in the light, and the surface temperature of different colors will be different. In the aging process, temperature is also an important factor affecting the aging speed.

Because according to the principle of electrochemistry, every time the temperature increases by 10°C, the electrochemical reaction speed will double. Therefore, the surface temperature of the sample is also an important control parameter during the test. Like the sample, the blackboard thermometer is also mounted on the sample holder and hung on the sample rack. The American standard and European standard commonly used blackboard thermometers are different. The American standard is called BPT, and the European standard is called BST (Blackboard Standard Temperature). The American standard blackboard thermometer is a metal plate coated with standard paint, while the European one is based on this metal plate. There is a plastic insulation layer behind it. Generally, the reading of BST will be more than 5 degrees higher than that of BPT. In order to comply with different standards, it is recommended to use dual-channel blackboard temperature measurement and control.

The Si4000 lamp tube stands upright in the center of the test box, around the upper and lower three-layer rotating sample rack, which can hold 65 samples (sample size is 70x150x3mm), which ensures that each sample receives uniform radiation intensity. An aluminum plate should be lined after each sample. If each sample is not enough to cover the sample rack, the empty sample holder should be lined with an aluminum plate to cover the entire sample rack.

Si4000 is a water-cooled xenon lamp aging instrument. The inner and outer filters form a water jacket while filtering light. The flow of pure water takes away the huge heat generated when the xenon lamp emits light. Pure water (<1ppm) is used for lamp cooling, spraying and humidification. The high purity of the water can reduce the deposition of impurities on the filter and prevent the influence of radiation intensity; spraying is to simulate rain; humidification is to use compressed air to make pure water It is sprayed out into water mist to control the humidity in the box. When the temperature in the pure water tank exceeds 65°C, Si4000 will automatically shut down for protection.

Aging definition
In daily use, the material will be exposed to outdoor sunlight, behind glass windows or indoor artificial light for a long time, and physical property changes such as fading, yellowing or strength reduction will occur. This change is usually called photo-aging or sun-aging.

Significance of aging
In order to evaluate the anti-aging performance of materials more quickly than the natural aging test, testing equipment with artificial light sources is usually used to reproduce and accelerate the aging process, so that it is not affected by daily cycles and climatic conditions, and can get a controllable Test environment to ensure the repeatability of test process parameters and the reproducibility of test results.
